Chief Salami Urges Community Leaders To Protect Their Domains
The Olisa of Ofin Sagamu, in Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State, Chief Adbulrasak Adeyemi Salami , has urged community leaders to protect their domain from any form of external aggression.
Responding to questions during a press interview at the palace of the Akarigbo of Remoland, Chief Salami stated that community leaders should not wait for Federal or state Governments to protect them, saying they should look in ward and design a strong internal mechanism that would ensure safety of lives and property.
He explained that several years back the primary responsibility of the security agencies was to ensure safety of the people but events have showed that security agencies have failed in their responsibilities to protect the people and villages and communities are being taken over by Bandit while the people are been killed like Christmas chicken.
He maintained that community Leaders should strategies towards ensuring their safety at all times and they should call for support from their neighbouring communities when the need arises, adding that they should protect their land from external aggressions and make sure they have undercover agent that will able to prevent them from any attack.
He hinted that security should be the number one priority of any community leader and they must not allow their land to be attacked by any terrorist or bandit, "don't wait for any government before you will defend yourself and don't allow bandit to cut your life short".
He also spoke on the annual Remo day Festival which was initiated by the Akarigbo of Remoland to unite the people and further preserve the cultural identity of Remo Division.
He spoke that Oba Babatunde Ajayi has provided the much needed leadership structure required for Remo to growth and expand, describing the monarch as a personality who has a listening hear, having the ability to make Remo a great nation.
He added that the monarch has continued to attract Government presence to his domain which has improved infrastructure across board, stressing the need for the people of Remo to support the monarch in his developmental drives.
He maintained that there are forty six Royal fathers in Remo Division and there is the need for a common platform through which the people will be able to exhibit their social cultural heritage.
Chief Salami stated that in Ijebu we have the Ojude Oba likewise in Egba the annual Lisabi Day Festival, pointing out that the annual Remo Day Festival is a right step in the right direction.
He spoke concerning growth in Remo division, pointing out that he has been able to use his wealth of experience to transform the land and improve the well-being of the people.
